Information for Employers: What is the Supported Work Program?

The Supported Work Program assists individuals with developmental disabilities to secure competitive employment in the Comox Valley. Prior to job placement, our employment specialists work with future employees to clarify interests and abilities in order to match the right person for the right job.

Individuals participating in the Supported Work Program are work ready, with awareness of workplace expectations and also have the personal traits that employers are looking for.

When a job placement is obtained, job coaches provide tailored yet flexible support, to ensure that employment is successful for both employee and employer.

Hiring people with developmental disabilities MAKES GOOD BUSINESS SENSE:

Individuals of the Supported Work Program have access to specialized training tailored to your business needs at no cost to employers. Tell us what training you would like and we will make it happen!

Employers have reported that their employees with the Supported Work Program are generally long-term employees who are devoted to their company and have chosen to advance within their company rather than look for work elsewhere. Stabilize previous high employee turnover rates!

Research supports several facts such as employees with disabilities have higher than average attendance, have fewer accidents and injuries on the job, and perform as well or better than employees without disabilities. A reliable, conscientious employee!

WE wish to include you in our growing list of business partners! We are happy to answer any questions you might have, so please contact us to find out how you can participate, and how we can be part of your advertising and marketing plan. Employers win and Employees succeed.

Phone (250) 338 - 7201 for more information or Contact Us via Email to find out how you can participate as an employer in the Comox Valley.
